Inferior Alveolar Nerve Injury From Dental Drill/Implant
This stock medical exhibit depicts an injury to the inferior alveolar nerve caused by a dental implant. The first image is a lateral view of a skull showing the course of the inferior alveolar nerve through the mandible. The second image shows the dental implant in place, compressing the nerve. The third image shows the drill contacting the nerve. The images along the right side show cross-sectional views of the normal condition, the drill tip contacting the nerve, and the final dental implant in place.
